Thomas E. Martin, 45, of Fitchburg, and Christian Collins, 37, of Worcester, face charges of murder, home invasion, armed assault in a dwelling, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm without an FID card, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said.

Police were called to Michael Parks' Fitchburg home on Marshall Street just before 9:30 p.m. to reports of gunshots. They found Parks bleeding from a bullet wound. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, the prosecutor said.

Martin and Collins are being held without bail, the district attorney said.

Parks was the father of three adult children and one son who died, his obituary said. He had nine grandchildren.
